Quantum Hall Fluids, Laughlin Wave Functions, and Ideals in the Weyl Algebra

چکیده
It is known that noncommutative fluids used to model the Fractional Quantum Hall effect give Calogero–Moser systems. The group-theoretic description of these as reductions of free motion on type A Lie algebras leads directly to Laughlin wave functions. The Calogero– Moser models also parametrise the right ideals of the Weyl algebra, which can be regarded as labelling sources in the fluid.

Fractional Quantum Hall Effect States as Exact Ground States
We construct many particle Hamiltonians for which the Laughlin and Jain wavefunctions are exact ground states. The Hamiltonians involve fermions in a magnetic field and with inter-particle interactions. For the Laughlin wave-functions and unprojected Jain wave-functions, the interactions involve twoand three-body correlations similar to the Chern-Simons interactions, whereas for the projected J...
متن کاملQuantum mechanics and quantum Hall effect on Riemann surfaces
The quantum mechanics of a system of charged particles interacting with a magnetic field on Riemann surfaces is studied. We explicitly construct the wave functions of ground states in the case of a metric proportional to the Chern form of the θ-bundle, and the wave functions of the Landau levels in the case of the the Poincaré metric. The degeneracy of the the Landau levels is obtained by using...
متن کاملHierarchical Wave Functions Revisited
The trial wave function of the fractional quantum Hall effect (FQHE) on a disk at filling ν = 1/m with m an old integer is given by the famous Laughlin wave function [1]. Laughlin wave function had been constructed on a spheric or a toric surface later in refs. [2, 3]. When ν 6= 1/m, there are several proposals for constructing the trial wave function, notably Halperin’s hierarchical wave funct...
متن کاملWave functions for arbitrarily Polarized Quantum Hall States
We determine the wave functions for arbitrarily polarized quantum Hall states by employing the doublet model which has been proposed recently to describe arbitrarily polarized quantum Hall states. Our findings recover the well known fully polarized Laughlin wave functions and unpolarized Halperin wave function for the filling fraction ν = 2/5. We have also confirmed by an explicit One-loop comp...
متن کاملLaughlin Type Wave Function for Two–Dimensional Anyon Fields in a KMS–State
The correlation functions of two-dimensional anyon fields in a KMS-state are studied. The n-particle wave functions of noncanonical fermions of level ν, ν odd, are shown to be of Laughlin type of order ν. For the first noncanonical Fermi class (ν=3) this is simply the finite-temperature generalization of Laughlin wave function. This relates the first and second quantized pictures of the fractio...
